Long-Term Competition for Light in Plant Simulation
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents simulations of long-term competition for light between two plant species, oaks and beeches. These artificial plants, evolving in a 3D environment, are based on a multi-agent model. Natural oaks and beeches develop two different strategies to exploit light. The model presented in this paper uses these properties during the plant growth. Most of the results are close to those obtained in natural conditions on long-term evolution of forests.

Resource use patterns predict long-term outcomes of plant competition for nutrients and light.
An 11-year competition experiment among combinations of six prairie perennial plant species showed that resource competition theory generally predicted the long-term outcome of competition. We grew each species in replicated monocultures to determine its requirements for soil nitrate (R*) and light (I*). In six pairwise combinations, the species with the lower R* and I* excluded its competitor,...

In this paper, a bi-objective model is presented for dynamic and integrated network design of a new entrant competitive closed-loop supply chain. To consider dynamism and integration in the network design problem, multiple long-term periods are regarded during planning horizon, so that each long-term period includes several short-term periods. Furthermore, a chain to chain competition between t...

Competion laws follow varions goals including economic targets such as increase of economic efficiency and consumers' welfare. This branch of law has resisted against agreements and contracts which endanger the consumers' or public welfare and has tried to prevent such contracts and processes. European Union is among the greatest consumers and importer of energy in the world. The most part of t...

We introduce a new method for the visualization and simulation of the growth and developments of competing plants. In this method the plant competition for resources is illustrated as aboveand below-ground competition. The strength of the below-ground competition depends on the neighboring root biomass. The strength of the aboveground competition depends on the neighboring plant body biomass. W...

The growth and development of human societies has always been parallel to the production and consumption of energy. Rapid and sustainable development in any country requires establishing a dynamic and stable balance between technical, economic, social and environmental categories while taking into account conditions that do not cause risks or reduce opportunities for progress. Energy and clean ...
